Compare Amber business electricity rates

AmberLooking to compare Amber business electricity rates and plans? We’ve summarised Amber’s current small business plans below.

About Amber for business

Switch to wholesale prices: Amber offers a different energy experience – customers receive wholesale energy prices for a monthly subscription fee.

Take charge: Amber’s app shows real-time electricity pricing and notifications letting customers know whenever the wholesale price goes above their chosen price limit. This helps your business to shift energy usage to cheaper and greener times.

Amber for Business can work well for:
  • Businesses who use most of their electricity during day-time hours when they can benefit from cheap solar in the grid.
  • Businesses with solar and batteries that want to access wholesale prices to maximise their opportunity for higher export rewards.
  • Businesses with large but shiftable load that can be timed to run during high-solar hours.

With a flat retail price (the traditional model) customers pay the same amount, even when there is loads of cheap renewable power in the grid. Amber is different. As an Amber customer, you get access to real-time generation prices, which Amber passes on to customers (along with network, environmental and market charges) without any retail margin/markup. So, your business pays the true cost of energy based on the time you consume it (and also receives the variable wholesale price for solar exports). Amber’s monthly subscription fee is the retailer’s only margin. Here’s where you could save with Amber.

Always know the price.

The Amber App keeps customers informed with up-to-the-minute energy pricing information and forecasts. So you can make informed decisions.. Plus, the Amber App’s push notifications inform customers whenever the wholesale price goes above their chosen price limit. It’s just one of the ways the app helps you shift your energy usage to cheaper times and greener times.

*Reference Price refers to the unconditional discount off the annual cost of the Default Market Offer (DMO) for NSW, QLD and SA or Victorian Default Offer (VDO) or ActewAGL Standing offer for ACT for a small business on a flat rate tariff without controlled load. The DMO is calculated based on an annual usage of 10,000kWh in NSW, QLD and SA. The VDO is calculated based on an annual usage of 10,000kWh in Victoria. In ACT and Tasmania, the Default Offer is calculated based on an annual usage of 20,000kWh. Energy Regulators require the DMO and VDO Reference Price to be displayed, however it does not take into account solar export nor a property's actual annual usage or when that usage occurs (for Time Of Use plans).
Cost/Year estimate shown is for the first year and includes all conditional discounts plus the value of exclusive benefits available when switching through wattever.com.au such as Prezzee eGift cards from WATTever and additional upfront/recurring credits from partner retailers. See plan details for more information. Your bill will vary based on actual usage.
For plans with a demand tariff, the annual cost estimate calculated by WATTever includes a demand charge that assumes a peak demand of 25% of the daily benchmark electricity consumption. Time of Use hours displayed are the periods published by each network. Individual retailers may offer different time of use hours - please review the plan BPID/Fact Sheet.
